El Boalo activates heat alert: up to 38.9°C on Friday in the region

Civil Protection updates the heatwave plan and raises the alert to level 2 for the South, Vegas, and West areas. In El Boalo, the mountains remain at level 1 (caution, moderate risk) with highs of up to 36.9°C on Friday.

The General Directorate of Civil Protection and the Madrid 112 Security and Emergency Agency updated the high-temperature episode affecting the Community of Madrid on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The new meteorological and epidemiological analysis restructures the alert levels by area, with special emphasis on the southern half of the region.

In El Boalo, located in the Sierra de Madrid, the alert level remains at level 1 (caution, moderate risk). The expected temperatures for the municipality will reach 36.2°C this Thursday, rise to 36.9°C on Friday, and drop to 35.4°C on Saturday.

The maximum alert level, level 2 (high risk), is concentrated in the South, Vegas, and West areas, where thermometers will hit 37.7°C today, spike to 38.9°C on Friday, and settle at 38.0°C on Saturday. In the Metropolitan and Henares areas, level 1 remains with peaks of 38.7°C on Friday.

The maximum ultraviolet radiation forecast for today is 8 (very high), so authorities recommend strict use of sun protection. Additionally, during the nights of Friday and Saturday, minimum temperatures will not drop below 21°C to 22°C in the metropolitan area and the mountains, leading to tropical nights.

Civil Protection emphasizes the need to protect children, the elderly, athletes, and outdoor workers. Among the health guidelines, it is important to drink at least two litres of water daily consistently, without waiting to feel thirsty, and to avoid intense physical activity during the hottest hours of the day.

In El Boalo, the Town Hall reminds residents that they can check hydration points and shaded areas set up in the municipality, as well as the status of municipal swimming pools, which will extend their hours while the alert is in effect. Special attention is recommended for the elderly living alone and for children during the hottest hours.
