The XI Health Fair of El Escorial will take place from September 22 to 27 at Casa Miñana with workshops, talks, medical tests, and sports activities. The official opening will be on Friday 25 with a charity run for The Challenge of Claudia.
El Escorial will host the XI Health Fair from September 22 to 27 at Casa Miñana, organised by the Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs of El Escorial in collaboration with the Town Hall of El Escorial. The event brings together 10 centres, establishments, and professionals under the slogan “Take care of your body, nourish your mind, live health”.
Last year, the fair recorded 3,000 check-ups, over 2,100 pharmacy tests, and more than 900 in optics, audiology, or physiotherapy, according to municipal data. In this edition, residents and visitors will be able to participate in workshops, talks, sports activities, and medical tests aimed at all ages.
The official opening will take place on Friday, September 25 with a charity run for The Challenge of Claudia, which will start at 18:30 and cover 5 kilometres. On the same day, the stands will open and a yoga masterclass will be held.
The mayor, Antonio Vicente, stated:
It is one of the most important fairs in the municipality due to what it implies and the theme it addresses. Holding leisure fairs is more attractive, but organising a health fair that improves each year involves great effort and therefore great satisfaction.
The councillor for Health, Victoria Varela, explained:
What we seek in each edition is to get closer to the residents and for all of us to raise awareness about the importance of health, both physical and mental, in our daily lives.
The programme will kick off on Tuesday, September 22 at 18:30 with the workshop “From Alarm to Calm”, led by Demelsa Cabeza, in the Multipurpose Room of the Municipal Library. On Wednesday 23, the Active Ageing programme will be presented with a healthy breakfast provided by the Geriatrics Department of El Escorial University Hospital, followed by a practical workshop on sleep and rest. On Thursday 24, there will be a workshop on emotional management.
On Friday 25, the day will include a nutrition talk for seniors titled “Aging with Health”, the presentation of the book 50 Questions about Exercise and Mental Health, and the official opening of the fair.
On Saturday 26, the Red Cross stand will open, featuring activities and a blood donation bus, and a step and toning masterclass will be held in support of The Challenge of Claudia. There will also be an escape room focused on health and family well-being and a natural cosmetics workshop.
