Guadarrama National Park has published advice for visitors to Rascafría and other municipalities to avoid the effects of heat during their hikes, especially during the hottest hours of the day.

The Guadarrama National Park has issued a series of recommendations for visitors approaching Rascafría and other areas of the protected space to enjoy their routes without risking their health due to the high temperatures expected in the coming days.

The agency advises to avoid physical activities between 14:00 and 18:00, the time of day when the heat is at its peak. It also recommends choosing shaded trails, such as those that run alongside rivers or through forested areas, which are common in the Lozoya valley.

Other guidelines include carrying enough water (at least one and a half litres per person), using sun protection, wearing a cap and light clothing, and informing someone of the planned itinerary before starting the hike. In case of dizziness, headache or weakness, emergency services remind that one should stop the activity, find a cool place, and seek help.

The park emphasizes that groups with children and the elderly should take extra precautions, as they are the most vulnerable to heatstroke. It also reminds that there is not always mobile coverage within the protected area, so it is advisable to carry a charged phone and, if possible, a geolocation device.

In case of any incidents, you can contact 112 or the park's agents, who assist visitors throughout the year in the municipalities of the area, including Rascafría.
